MG Motor India is gearing up to launch an upgraded version of its Windsor EV, featuring a larger battery pack and enhanced range. Sources indicate that the updated Windsor will begin reaching showrooms by August 2025, following the success of the current 38 kWh version in the Indian market. The forthcoming MG Windsor EV will be equipped with a 50.6 kWh battery pack, significantly larger than the current offering. MG claims a range of 460 km on a single charge with the new battery, bringing it in line with the company's larger ZS EV in terms of range.
Despite the new battery, the motor specifications remain unchanged for now, but, there is no confirmation yet. The Windsor EV will continue with a front-wheel drive (FWD) setup, delivering 131 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, and achieving a top speed of 175 kmph. Charging times are expected to remain the same, with a full AC charge (20-100%) taking around 7 hours, and a DC fast charge (30-80%) completing in approximately 30 minutes. It remains unconfirmed whether the updated Windsor will use the same Permanent Magnet Synchronous (PMS) motor as the ZS EV.
Externally, the dimensions of the Windsor EV will remain unchanged. However, cosmetic updates such as a new alloy wheel design are likely. No significant changes to the overall styling have been reported. On the inside, a notable update is expected in the form of an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite — a feature that the current Windsor lacks. Apart from the addition of ADAS, other features are expected to be carried forward from the existing model without major revisions.
The updated MG Windsor EV is expected to command a premium of approximately ₹4 lakh over the outgoing top-spec variants. This price adjustment would position the Windsor EV directly against upcoming rivals such as the Tata Curvv.ev (with its 55 kWh battery) and the Mahindra BE 6.
