Microsoft describes Copilot as an "everyday AI companion" unifying AI capabilities across its products and services.
Microsoft announced a new wave of AI-powered products and services, including the Copilot AI Assistant, updates to Bing and Edge, new Microsoft 365 experiences, new Surface laptops and more.
Microsoft described Copilot as an "everyday AI companion" that will unify AI capabilities across Microsoft's products and services. Copilot will be available in Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Edge, and Bing to provide personalized assistance by utilizing context about the user's work and web activity. Microsoft said Copilot will roll out first in Windows 11 starting September 26th.
Bing search is receiving an upgrade with support for OpenAI's DALL-E 3 for enhanced image creation directly within Bing. Bing will also provide more personalized search results using users' search histories. Meanwhile, the Edge browser will gain new shopping features to help users find the best deals.
For enterprise customers, Microsoft 365 Copilot will launch on November 1st alongside Microsoft 365 Chat, an AI assistant for work that can summarize documents, book travel, and more. Bing Chat Enterprise will also be updated with new visual search capabilities.
On the consumer side, Microsoft showcased AI-powered features coming to apps like Word, Excel, Paint, and Microsoft Designer. Designer helps create graphics and social media images using the latest AI tools.
Finally, Microsoft announced new Surface laptops available for pre-order, including the Surface Laptop Studio 2, Surface Laptop Go 3, and Surface Go 4 for Business. Microsoft said the new Surface devices showcase the company's latest advancements in AI silicon to power experiences like Windows Studio Effects.
The Surface Laptop Studio 2 builds upon the success of its predecessor, retaining its signature 14.4-inch PixelSense touchscreen display with a remarkable 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the 13th Gen Intel Core i7 H series Processor, paired with graphics options, including NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada Generation GPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050, or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU.
Pricing starts at $1,999 for a Core i7 CPU with Iris Xe graphics. Models with dedicated NVIDIA graphics range from $2,399 to $3,699 depending on the GPU, RAM and storage configuration. Meanwhile, the Surface Laptop Go 3 is available in four stylish colors and starts at $799.99 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB SSD model with the 16GB RAM + 256GB SSD variant priced at $999.99. Both Surface Laptop Studio 2 and Surface Laptop Go 3 is available for pre-order now and will launch on October 3rd in the US.
