Continuing a spate of recent smartphone launches across all segments, Motorola has introduced its latest G-series phone for value-conscious buyers. The new Moto G85 offers some premium features and design touches such as a curved-edge pOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5 for durability. Two variants have been announced: one with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage priced at Rs. 17,999, and the other with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage priced at Rs. 19,999 in India.
The Moto G85 is 7.59mm thin and weighs 172g. It’s available in three colours, the standard Urban Grey with a matte plastic body, and the Cobalt Blue and Olive Green options which have vegan leather rear panels. The display glass curves smoothly into the body, which Motorola calls an “endless edge”.
The 6.7-inch full-HD+ LTPS pOLED display has a 120Hz peak refresh rate, 10-bit colour reproduction, 1600 nits peak brightness, and an embedded fingerprint sensor. Motorola has gone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC, with eight CPU cores and integrated Adreno 319 graphics. This phone runs Android 14 and buyers are guaranteed two years of OS updates and four years of security patches.
There’s a 5000mAh battery, and support for 33W fast wired charging. The primary rear camera has a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 600 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, and optical stabilisation. There’s also an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera that can also shoot macros. On the front, there’s a 32-megapixel f/2.4 selfie camera.
You also get stereo speakers, Wi-Fi ac, and Bluetooth 5.1. Motorola touts support for its Smart Connect feature, which lets users easily exchange files between this phone and a PC, and run phone apps on a PC desktop.
The Moto G85 goes on sale starting July 16 on Flipkart as well as Motorola’s own website and authorised retailers. The company is offering an instant discount of Rs. 1,000 or an exchange bonus as well as EMI options.
