The new Ather e-scooter will be based on the EL platform unveiled last year, and is expected to carry a sub-₹1 lakh price tag when it arrives.
Ather Energy has dropped the first teaser for its upcoming affordable electric scooter, which is set to debut on August 29, 2026. The new e-scooter will be based on the EL platform unveiled last year, and is expected to carry a sub-₹1 lakh price tag when it arrives. The company will be revealing its new offering at the Ather Community Day 2026, in the presence of owners and brand enthusiasts.
The latest teasers showcase the EL platform-based scooter in closer stages of the launch. The first teaser gives a look at its silhouette against a sunset, while the second image showcases the scooter on an assembly line.
Both images convey that the upcoming Ather e-scooter will be identical to the EL01 concept revealed last year. The model promised simpler lines, and a more conservative, family-oriented stance, along with a flat floorboard, single-piece seat, and a LED headlamp. Other bits to expect include a 14-inch front and a 12-inch rear wheel, a disc and drum brake combination setup, and a TFT display with smartphone connectivity including music and navigation. It’ll be interesting to see of the EL01-based electric scooter will borrow features from more expensive Ather models such as Magic Twist, Anti-Skid control, Pothole+ Alerts, and more.
There’s no word on the hardware at the moment but Ather previously said that the platform will be able to support battery packs ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh.
Ather is looking to gain presence in the mass-market space with the new EL-based electric scooter. The model will take on offerings such as the TVS Orbiter and Chetak C25. More details will be available in the coming days.
