BMW India has launched the seventh generation of its high-performance sedan, the BMW M5 as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) model at ₹1.99 crore (ex-showroom). The all-new BMW M5 is powered by the M Hybrid system, which integrates the legendary S68 4.4-litre V8 engine with an electric motor. This combination produces a total output of 717 bhp and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm. The internal combustion engine contributes 577 bhp, while the electric motor adds 194 bhp. The car is equipped with an 18.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering a pure-electric range of up to 69 km (WLTP). It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.5 seconds and achieves a top speed of 305 kmph with the optional M Driver’s Package.
The M Hybrid system offers three driving modes. The hybrid mode balances efficiency and performance, while the electric mode enables emissions-free driving at speeds up to 140 kmph. The eControl mode focuses on brake energy recuperation and maintaining the battery charge level. A rear-biased M xDrive all-wheel-drive system provides optimal traction, with a 2WD mode available for enthusiasts seeking a rear-wheel-drive experience. The car’s adaptive M suspension and Integral Active Steering ensure precise handling across varied driving conditions.
In terms of design, the M5 has a modern aesthetic while retaining BMW's signature styling elements. The front fascia features the redesigned M kidney grille with high-gloss black finishes, Adaptive LED headlights, and prominent air intakes. Its sporty silhouette is further enhanced by the M Carbon Roof. You also get to choose from a wide range of paint options, including standard Alpine White, metallic shades like Brooklyn Grey and Isle of Man Green, and BMW Individual finishes. Inside, Full Leather Merino upholstery is offered in combinations such as Red/Black and Kyalami Orange.
The interior receives M multifunction seats, a newly designed M leather steering wheel, and a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system. The cabin is equipped with the BMW Operating System 8.5, featuring a curved display and QuickSelect navigation enhanced with cloud-based maps and augmented reality. Advanced features like M Drive Professional add track-oriented capabilities, including an M Laptimer and Boost Control for optimal power delivery.
The M5 also incorporates an extensive suite of driver assistance technologies. Standard features include Parking Assistant Plus with Surround View Camera and Reversing Assistant. The optional Driving Assistant Professional adds semi-autonomous functionalities like Active Cruise Control, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, and Cross Traffic Warning. The car’s safety systems include multiple airbags, ABS, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
