Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the new Dzire, ahead of its launch on November 11 when it will announce the prices for the fourth-gen of its compact sedan. The new Dzire will be available with a petrol engine and a CNG kit right from the start.
The new Dzire looks very different from the Swift, with which it shares its platform. The subcompact sedan gets wide LED headlamps, LED DRLs and a big grille. It also rides on 15-inch alloy wheels (lower-spec variants get 14-inch steel wheels). At the back it has square LED taillamps with Y-shaped lighting elements and the taillamp clusters are connected by a black panel with a chrome strip only on the top-end variants.
Inside, the new Dzire gets a similar dashboard to the new Swift but with more textures, and silver and faux wood accents. The top-spec variants get a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, while the lower-spec variants get a 7-inch touchscreen. It also gets a single-pane sunroof and a 360-degree camera, both of which are segment-first features. It gets a semi-digital instrument cluster as well as connected car tech.
In terms of safety, the new Dzire gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, hill hold assist, and three-point seat belts with reminders for all seats as standard.
Under the hood, the Dzire gets the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, Z-Series petrol engine as the Swift developing, 80 bhp and 112 Nm. It also gets a factory-fitted CNG kit that develops 69 bhp and 102 Nm in CNG mode. Both get a 5-speed manual but the petrol also gets a 5-speed AMT.
As mentioned, prices for the Dzire will be announced on November 11 and the new Dzire is expected to be priced at a slight premium compared to the outgoing model which is priced between ₹6.56 – 9.34 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new Dzire will rival the upcoming Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor and Hyundai Aura.
