Currently offered as a front-wheel drive, Tata Motors says an all-wheel drive version of the all-new Sierra will be launched at a later stage.
Tata Motors has officially brought back the Sierra nameplate back from the dead after 28 years. A concept of the new generation Tata Sierra first broke cover at Auto Expo 2023, followed by a more evolved version of the same at Auto Expo 2025. The final production-spec Tata Sierra made its debut earlier this month.
More importantly, Tata will bring out both combustion engine and battery-powered versions of the Sierra, the former having been launched first. The new generation Tata Sierra will be offered at an introductory starting price of ₹11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the SUV will officially commence across all Tata dealerships from 16 December onwards whereas deliveries for the same will begin from January 2026.

The 2026 Sierra preserves several signature design elements from the original 1990s model—most notably its boxy profile and flat roofline—but now adopts a more practical five-door layout instead of the earlier three-door design. At the front, it features a clean, flat fascia with a modern all-LED lighting setup, including sleek headlamps linked by a full-width light bar. A sturdy bumper with a faux skid plate and prominent, square-edged cladded wheel arches further enhance its SUV character.
Buyers will also get dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels, upright pillars, flush door handles, blacked-out ORVMs and functional roof rails. At the rear, the connected LED light signature continues, complemented by a slightly curved windshield, a flat tailgate and a faux silver skid plate seamlessly integrated into the bumper. At launch, the Sierra will be available in six colour options: Bengal Rouge (Red), Andaman Adventure (Yellow), Mintal Grey, Pristine White, Coorg Clouds (Silver/Light Grey) and Munnar Mist (Green/Grey).

The new Tata Sierra’s interior makes extensive use of recycled materials and features a large panoramic sunroof along with the signature ‘infinite window’ design, giving the cabin a bright and airy ambience. Its standout highlight is the triple-screen dashboard setup—a first for any Tata vehicle—which includes a fully digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen infotainment system and a dedicated co-passenger display. However, this feature is expected to be offered only on the top-spec variant.
The new-generation Sierra is equipped with ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charging pad, a 12-speaker JBL audio system, dual-zone climate control and multicolour ambient lighting. In terms of safety, it is likely to offer multiple airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), 360-degree cameras, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a Level 2 ADAS suite.

The new-generation Tata Sierra will be available in both internal combustion and fully electric versions, with the ICE models expected to launch first. The engine range will include the proven 1.5-litre Kryojet turbo-diesel from the Nexon and Curvv, along with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit.

Depending on the engine, transmission options are expected to include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque-converter automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Currently offered as a front-wheel drive, Tata Motors says an all-wheel drive version of Sierra will be launched at a later stage.
