Honda Insight returns as an all-electric crossover with 201 bhp, 310 Nm torque and up to 501 km WLTC range, initially launching in Japan.
The new Honda Insight has been revealed for the Japanese market. This is the fourth-generation model of the Insight and it has morphed into a four-door electric crossover.
While never sold in India, the Insight has gone through several major changes since its debut. The original version was a two-door, two-seat hybrid liftback, while the second generation evolved into a four-door liftback with seating for five. The third generation then shifted to a traditional four-door sedan layout.
Market availability is also changing. Earlier Insight models were sold in the United States, but the latest version will initially be offered only in Japan. Other global markets may gain access later.
The new Honda Insight uses a single front-mounted electric motor producing 310 Nm of torque. This matches the figure of the Honda e:NS2 and likely corresponds to about 201 bhp. While these numbers are modest by EV standards, Honda says the vehicle’s relatively light weight should deliver responsive and agile driving dynamics.
The company claims a driving range of around 501 km on the WLTC testing cycle, which tends to be less strict than the EPA procedure. For comparison, the Chinese-market e:NS2 offers a claimed range of 546 km on the CLTC cycle with its 68.8 kWh battery pack.

Drivers will be able to choose between several drive modes, including Normal, Econ, Snow, and Sport. The Sport mode adds artificial sound effects designed to enhance the driving experience. The vehicle also includes Agile Handling Assist to improve cornering stability. Honda has not yet provided detailed charging specifications, but it says the Insight supports bi-directional charging, allowing the EV to power home appliances or external devices.
Inside, a large 12.8-inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard and controls most vehicle functions, including climate and audio settings, eliminating traditional physical buttons. A 9.4-inch digital display behind the steering wheel serves as the instrument cluster, while a head-up display projects key information into the driver’s line of sight.
Both the front and rear seats recline and combine genuine and synthetic leather upholstery. Heating is available for all seats, while the front seats also include ventilation. The vehicle also includes a built-in webcam that captures footage from both the front and rear of the car.
Changes of the 2026 Honda Insight making it to India are slim. However, Honda India has confirmed that a production version of 0 Alpha electric SUV will launch in India in 2027.
