The pre-booking for the new Mercedes-Benz GLC is now open at an initial token amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh.
Mercedes-Benz India will launch its latest SUV, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC, in the country on August 9, 2023. The premium compact SUV, now in its second generation, will be introduced in both petrol and diesel powertrains, along with its all-wheel-drive setup. Additionally, pre-booking for the new GLC is now open at an initial token amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh. Like the other products in the company’s India portfolio, the new GLC will also be locally assembled at its Chakan plant in Pune, Maharashtra.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLC features a redesigned front end, with headlamps connecting directly to the radiator grille which now has a chrome surround and a sporty louvre in matt grey with chrome trim. The shaped edges on the sides accentuate the muscular wheel arches and create a balance with the wide track and flush wheels in 18 to 20-inch sizes. At the back, new two-section tail lights have an interior with a three-dimensional look with a simulated chrome underguard, and chrome-look tailpipes.
Inside, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC looks modern yet sporty. A new driver-centric dashboard, with a wing-like profile on the upper section, flows directly into the new curved console. However, it is not a single-panel display like other Mercs but instead features a 12.3-inch driver’s display and an 11.9-inch central display. Smartphone integration, wireless charging, and heated front seats are all part of the standard fitment.
With a length of 4716 mm, it is 60 mm longer and 4 mm lower than its predecessor. The track widths have been increased by 6 mm at the front (now 1627 mm) and 23 mm at the rear (now 1640 mm). The longer vehicle length benefits the wheelbase and the front and rear overhangs. The vehicle width has remained the same at 1890 mm. The luggage capacity benefits from the larger rear overhang and has increased significantly to 620 litres (+ 70 litres compared to the preceding model).
Globally, the second generation GLC comes with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but India will get the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol with the 48-volt mild hybrid system and the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. While petrol is the more powerful of the lot, providing more than 250 bhp, diesel too gives out a gracious 194 bhp. Both engines are coupled with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
