Mercedes-Benz has updated the GLC's exterior as well as the interior
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the all-new GLC in India. The second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC carries a number of important updates that give it a sleeker look on the outside and a C-Class-inspired look on the inside. The launch of the new Mercedes-Benz GLC is scheduled for August 9, 2023.
On the outside, the 2023 GLC has been given a slightly slimmer design to the LED tail lamps as well as sharper headlamps. The GLC is now 60 mm longer and 70 litres of extra boot space than the previous generation model. Mercedes-Benz has also increased the wheelbase by 15 mm and ground clearance is up 20 mm, too. On the inside, the new GLC gets a very similar cabin to the C-Class with a vertically mounted 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The new GLC comes loaded with seven airbags and features new safety equipment like Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist.
The new GLC gets two engine options, both of which come paired to a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. First is the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel motor which churns out 195 bhp and 440 Nm of torque called the 220d. Second, a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 255 bhp and 400 Nm of torque called the 300. Both these motors have all-wheel drive as standard and come mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Mercedes-Benz states that GLC makes 60 bhp more than its predecessor.
Mercedes-Benz also boasts of a higher fuel economy figure for the GLC; the petrol gets an ARAI-certified figure of 14.72 kmpl, while the diesel returns a claimed 19.47 kmpl. Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz's latest SUV will be available in five exterior colours and three interior trim colour options. Once the new GLC arrives in India on August 9, it will compete against the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, Land Rover Discovery Sport and Lexus NX.
