Hyundai is eyeing a global debut of 2027 for the third-gen Creta. The company’s production facility in Chennai will continue to serve as the production hub for the SUV.
We already know that Hyundai is working on the third generation model of the Creta. Since its launch in July 2015, the Korean auto giant has sold more than 12 lakh units in India by the end of 2025. These figures also include the all-electric Hyundai Creta Electric launched in early 2025.
Hyundai has been proficient in providing intermittent updates to the Creta ever since it was launched. The first-gen model was followed by a mid-cycle facelift in 2017 which was followed by the current second-gen model launched in February 2020 followed by a comprehensive update in early 2024. The next-gen Hyundai Creta is expected to make its global debut in 2027.
Now, the upcoming third-gen model of the Hyundai Creta has been spotted for the first time. The recent spy images show a test mule of the next-gen Creta which has reportedly been caught on camera somewhere in South Korea. Despite being heavily wrapped under a camouflage, the changes in design are very evident indicating towards a significant departure in design philosophy.

The third-gen Creta will most likely be based on the new K3 platform, the same architect that underpins the second-gen Kia Seltos. Hence, we expect the Creta to grow in proportions just like its Kia cousin has in its latest avatar. The spy shots also suggest that the new Creta is likely to grow in size although the same cannot be confirmed unless the dimensions are officially revealed.
For reference, the new-gen Kia Seltos is now 95 mm longer and 30 mm wider than its predecessor. Moreover, it also offers an 80 mm longer wheelbase. The overall design of the upcoming Creta looks boxier and offers a more squared-up stance. The front fascia is flat and upright while the windscreen is highly raked. Along the profile, the stance is amplified, thanks to the new 18-inch alloy wheels.

At the rear, there are no clear details on display, although the camouflage suggests the presence of a pronounced roof spoiler and a sharply sloping roofline on the new Creta. The tailgate looks flatter and houses a prominent roof spoiler.

The next-gen Hyundai Creta is expected to receive the same set of engines that include a 114 bhp 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 115 bhp 1.5-litre diesel, and a 158 bhp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. Gearbox options will include a 6-speed manual as standard for all engines, with the naturally aspirated petrol unit additionally offering a CVT, the diesel offering a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and the turbo-petrol coming with a 7-speed DCT.
Based on the K3 platform, the next-generation Creta is expected to support a strong hybrid powertrain using a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This hybrid setup has also been confirmed for the new-generation Seltos, which is slated to receive it in 2027.
