Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. have announced their intentions to delve into a feasibility study for a potential strategic partnership focusing on vehicle electrification and software intelligence. This move comes as both companies aim to accelerate efforts towards carbon neutrality and enhance safety measures on the roads.
The memorandum of understanding signals a proactive step towards addressing common challenges faced by the automotive industry, particularly in the realms of environmental sustainability and technological innovation. By pooling resources and expertise, Nissan and Honda seek to leverage their respective strengths to explore collaborative opportunities that could drive sustainable growth and pave the way for future advancements in mobility.

Toshihiro Mibe, Honda director, president and representative executive officer, said, “In this period of once-in-a-century transformation in the automotive industry, we will examine the potential for partnership between Nissan and Honda. Our study criteria will be whether the synergy of the technologies and knowledge that our companies have cultivated will enable us to become industry leaders by creating new value for the automotive industry.”
