Nissan India has announced the sale of over two lakh units of its Magnite SUV, marking a key milestone for the automaker in the competitive sub-four-metre SUV segment. The announcement coincides with the launch of a new CNG variant of the Magnite, expanding the vehicle’s powertrain portfolio and catering to the growing demand for alternative fuel options.

Originally launched in December 2020, the Nissan Magnite has emerged as a crucial volume driver for the brand in India. Positioned as a value-driven SUV with a starting ex-showroom price of ₹6.14 lakh, the Magnite has helped Nissan regain a foothold in the mass-market segment. The model received a mid-cycle facelift in October 2024, with updates focused on aesthetics and features to maintain its relevance amid rising competition.
Building on the updated lineup, Nissan has now introduced a CNG-fitted version of the Magnite. Priced at a premium of ₹75,000 over the corresponding petrol variant, the CNG option is available as a factory-fitted, retrofitted solution—ensuring warranty coverage and compliance with safety standards.

The CNG variant comes with a standard three-year or 1 lakh kilometre warranty, in line with Nissan's assurance policy for its ICE models. It is powered by the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and is mated exclusively to a five-speed manual gearbox. The CNG kit is not offered with the more powerful 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine or any automatic transmission option.
While Nissan has not disclosed detailed variant-wise sales data, the Magnite's strong sales performance underscores its role as a cornerstone in the brand’s India operations. The model also plays a dual role in Nissan’s global strategy, with units being exported to multiple international markets from its production base in Chennai.
