After a hiatus of 10 years, Nissan’s X-Trail badge finally made a comeback in India with its debut last evening. The upcoming SUV will arrive in the country via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. Slated for launch on July 23, when Nissan will also announce its ex-showroom price, bookings will also commence from the same date onwards.
The India-spec Nissan X-Trail will be available with a mild-hybrid setup with the 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine which has a total output of 161 bhp and 300 Nm. The engine comes paired with a CVT automatic gearbox with front-wheel drive only.
Furthermore, the Nissan X-Trail will be available in both 7-seater and 5-seater configurations. Some of the key highlights of the cabin include a 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment screen, two-zone automatic climate control, wireless charger, and cruise control. Standard safety features include 7 airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX seats.
Nissan doesn’t have very ambitious plans with the X-Trail in India, for the Japanese brand will be importing just 2,500 units. Thereby, skipping the need for homologation. While Nissan is yet to announce the X-Trails’s official ex-showroom price, it will rival the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster, etc. Thereby, we expect Nissan’s upcoming SUV to be priced somewhere between ₹35-₹45 lakh (ex-showroom).
