Event postponed due to “operational circumstances”
Sad news for Indian MotoGP fans as the Bharat GP is not going to return in 2025. MotoGP’s governing body – Dorna – has announced that the race will now take place in 2026, and currently is only a reserve event in 2025. This comes as a major blow to popularise this sport in the world’s second-largest two-wheeler market.
The official statement mentions that “operational circumstances” have forced a delay of the race to be held in the country in 2025. It was becoming difficult for the timelines to match for Dorna as the next season’s calendar needed to be announced soon. And since the event was originally planned to be towards the start of the year, the lack of clarity on the organisational front has seen it been dropped from the 2025 calendar. Dorna has also mentioned that there were no dates for the race to be held towards the end of the year and hence the disappointment for Indian MotoGP fans continues.
The only slim glimmer of hope remains that it is a reserve event for 2025 as it could possibly replace one of the proposed rounds that might fail to take place. Else, the best hope is for 2026. So, if you were hoping to see Marc Marquez in the factory Ducati colours or Jorge Martin in factory Aprilia outfit, you will have to wait. Or rather visit some other races in 2025.
