Sadly, the bike will find it hard to be the disruptor in the Indian electric motorcycle space
Okaya EV's premium line, Ferrato, has unveiled its first electric motorcycle, the ‘Disruptor.’ Priced competitively at ₹1.4 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi, after subsidy), the Disruptor promises a range above 100 km on a single charge.
The Ferrato Disruptor has a 6.4 kW motor that generates a peak torque of 228 Nm at the wheel. The 3.97 kWh battery is built to withstand India's hot climate with a high thermal runaway resistance of 270°C. It gives the Disruptor an IDC range of 129 km on a single charge. It takes 5 hr to fully charge the battery. Sadly there is no option of fast charging. To add to the peace of mind, Ferrato offers a 3-year/30,000 km warranty on the Disruptor. The company claims that the running cost is just 25 paise per km.
Comfort and convenience are key features of the Ferrato Disruptor. The bike features three riding modes – Eco, City, and Sports – allowing riders to adjust performance based on their needs. It also has connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, along with geo-fencing and find-my-bike support for added security. The IP67 dust and water resistance rating ensures the Disruptor can handle various weather conditions.
Pre-bookings for the Ferrato Disruptor are now open on the company's website. To incentivise early buyers, the company is offering a special discount for the first 1000 customers. Deliveries are expected to commence in 90 days. This initial launch will be limited to select cities, including Delhi, Gurgaon, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Bangalore.
Ferrato doesn't plan to stop with just the Disruptor. Okaya EV has ambitious plans to expand its Ferrato product portfolio. The company intends to launch two more Ferrato products by the end of the year - an e-bike and a premium e-scooter. To ensure proper customer service and support, Okaya EV is also establishing a dedicated service network and dealership network specifically for the Ferrato brand.
