Ola Electric will have to refund the amount in 45 days, post which the interest rate will increase.
A Hyderabad lawyer has won his case against Ola Electric after a prolonged battle over a malfunctioning e electric scooter. The Ranga Reddy District Consumer Commission has ordered the EV maker to reimburse ₹1,63,986 along with interest and provide ₹10,000 as compensation, reported an Indian publication.

The lawyer's Ola S1 Pro, purchased in June 2022, faced continuous technical problems despite having warranty coverage. The scooter's charging system proved problematic from day one, and by August 2023, battery issues rendered it completely unusable.
When the company failed to address these concerns or appear for hearings following a legal notice, the consumer panel stepped in. They've mandated a 45-day deadline for the refund, with 9 per cent interest retroactive from August 2023. If delayed, the interest rate will climb to 12 per cent per year.

This ruling comes as Ola Electric reports strong market performance. The company's October 2024 registrations reached 41,605 units, marking a 74% jump from last year. With claimed monthly sales topping 50,000 units, Ola now holds a 30% share in India's electric two-wheeler segment, which has significantly reduced though with legacy manufacturers catching up with competition.
