Bookings for the Ola Roadster bike had already commenced earlier, now deliveries are slated to start from March onwards.
That Ola Electric will be further expanding its product range by launching new electric motorcycles has been known for quite a while now. The brand will have three new bikes – Roadster, Roadster X, and Roadster Pro. Bhavish Aggarwal, the company’s CEO was recently spotted taking a short ride on the production ready Ola Roadster and exclaimed in a post on his social media account how the new bike left him feeling “Exhilarated.” It was an attempt by the CEO to entice future customers, after all the electric bike has already been launched. It is available in three variants with three battery pack options – Roadster 3.5 kWh, Roadster 4.5 kWh, and Roadster 6 kWh. All three are priced at ₹1,04,999, ₹1,19,999, and ₹1,39,999 (all ex-showroom price), respectively . Bookings for these electric bikes had already commenced last year, and now deliveries are scheduled to start from March, 2025, onwards.
Alongside the Roadster, Ola Electric will also retail the Roadster X and Roadster Pro. The former will be an entry level model with smaller battery pack options, the latter will be a more premium option with big battery packs on offer. All three bikes share the same platform, but where the top-spec Roadster X is available with a 4.5 kWh battery, the top-spec Roadster and Roadster Pros are available with a 6 kWh and 16 kWh battery pack, respectively. This also makes the Roadster Pro the only electric motorcycle in the country to be available with such a big battery.
As for the upcoming Ola Roadster, which is expected to arrive at showrooms soon, all three of its variants are powered by a 13 kW electric motor. But the top speed and acceleration timings vary across the range. Similarly, range is also different with the base-spec Roadster 3.5 kWh good for 151 km of certified range, the mid-spec variant can do 190 km of range, while the top-spec reserves the capacity to travel up to 248 km on a single charge, as per the Indian Driving Cycle.
The new Ola Roadster motorcycles will launch in the market with a lot of skepticism, especially given the Bengaluru-based EV company’s track record of delivering unreliable products. Its existing range of S1 Pro electric scooters have received quite the flak from customers, and poor build quality has been one of the biggest complaints so far. Making matters worse were the regressive steps taken by Ola Electric to address consumer complaints. The company is currently under investigation by the Central Consumer Protection Authority over 10,000 complaints, which Ola claims has already resolved 99 per cent of these cases. Due to this ongoing fiasco, Ola’s market share have plummeted significantly and it has now lost the plot to legacy manufacturer TVS and Bajaj Auto – You can read more about this turn of events by heading to the link here.
