Ola Electric has commenced deliveries of its highly anticipated S1 X electric scooter. This is important for the company as it brings down the asking price for entering the Ola family and brings electric mobility to the masses in India.
The S1 X has the title of Ola Electric's most affordable e-scooter. It is available in three variants with varying battery capacities: 2 kWh, 3 kWh, and 4 kWh. These options cater to a range of needs, offering riders an IDC range of between 91 km and 190 km on a single charge.
Ola Electric believes that S1 X's competitive price point tackles the issue of affordability. This is a major obstacle to EV adoption. By offering a more affordable option, With the Ola S1 X Scooter deliveries beginning, Ola aims to reach a wider customer base, potentially leading to a significant increase in EV users and accelerating the transition to electric mobility in India.
The S1 X series offers a practical solution for riders with its inclusion of a physical key, alongside features like a digital instrument cluster, multiple riding modes (Eco, Normal, Sports) and a top speed of 85 kmph for the 2kWh variant and 90 kmph for the 3kWh and 4kWh variants.
The most affordable option is the 2kWh battery variant, starting at a competitive ₹ 69,999 (ex-showroom). This is followed by the 3kWh version priced at ₹ 84,999, offering a balance between price and range. For those seeking the maximum range of 190km, the top-of-the-line 4kWh model comes in at ₹ 99,999 (ex-showroom).
Ola has got its focus set right by offering affordability backed by warranty to seek reliability on the brand. Its products with exciting numbers on the spec sheet and flashy features seem to be impressing the Indian market. Overall the company is trying to capture a larger market share by offering electric scooters on a budget in these stages of EV transition for India.
