Porsche’s exit comes after five years of involvement in Bugatti Rimac, the joint venture established with Rimac Group in 2021.
Porsche has completed the sale of its stakes in Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Group after securing the required regulatory approvals, thus, bringing its involvement in the Croatian electric hypercar maker and related businesses to an end, the company has announced. The transaction will generate proceeds of around €1 billion ($1.2 billion) for the German sports car manufacturer.
The deal leaves Rimac Group and Bugatti Rimac with a shareholder structure that no longer includes Porsche, while Bugatti continues to operate from its historic base in Molsheim. The next phase will show how the new ownership and management arrangement shapes the direction of both the Bugatti brand and Rimac’s broader automotive operations.
Porsche and Rimac Group set up Bugatti Rimac as a joint venture in 2021. Rimac Group initially held a 55 per cent majority interest, with Porsche owning the remaining 45 per cent. Porsche also had a 21 per cent stake in Rimac Group.

The German carmaker announced in April 2026 that a consortium led by HOF Capital, with BlueFive Capital as its largest investor alongside other institutional investors from the US and Europe, had agreed to acquire its holdings in both Rimac Group and Bugatti Rimac. The deal has now closed, completing Porsche’s withdrawal from the businesses.
The ownership change also brings a reshaped leadership structure at Bugatti Rimac, with the company continuing to pursue Mate Rimac’s long-term strategic and operational direction for Bugatti. Rimac was appointed CEO of Bugatti Rimac in 2021 and will now take on the role of President of Bugatti Automobiles.

Christophe Piochon will leave his positions as President of Bugatti Automobiles and Chief Operating Officer of Bugatti Rimac. Piochon has spent more than two decades with Bugatti and was involved in the brand’s development through the Veyron and Tourbillon eras.
“With more than two decades with Bugatti, Christophe has strongly influenced the brand as it stands. From the Veyron to the Tourbillon, he has contributed to build and protect the quality and craftsmanship that define all hyper sports cars leaving Molsheim. On behalf of the entire team at Bugatti Rimac, I want to thank Christophe and wish him every success and take the opportunity to welcome Marko," Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac, said in a statement.
Marko Brkljačić, formerly Chief Operating Officer at Rimac Technology, is likely to join the Bugatti Rimac leadership team as Chief Operating Officer. Further changes are expected in the near term, including the planned appointment of Hendrik Malinowski, currently Managing Director of Bugatti Automobiles, as Chief Commercial Officer of the brand.
For Bugatti Rimac, the immediate focus will be on operating under the new ownership structure while continuing to develop Bugatti under Mate Rimac’s leadership. The leadership changes suggest that the company is also moving into a new organisational phase following the completion of the transaction.
