The recall affects models built from 2020 to 2025.

Porsche has announced a recall affecting 31,689 of its Taycan electric vehicles globally, spanning models from 2020 to 2025, due to an issue with the front brake hose that could potentially compromise braking performance. The Taycan, Porsche's all-electric sports car introduced in 2019, marked a significant step in the company's foray into electric mobility. Since its launch, the Taycan has seen robust sales, with over 150,000 units sold worldwide. However, like many new models, it has faced a series of recalls addressing various issues.

The latest recall involves the front brake hose of certain Taycan models, which Porsche identified as prone to cracking over time. This defect could lead to brake fluid leakage, potentially impairing the vehicle's braking capability. Porsche initiated an investigation after receiving multiple reports of brake hose leaks, leading to this precautionary recall. In December 2023, over 41,000 Taycan models were recalled due to a faulty charging cable. More recently, in March, a few hundred units were recalled over a potential short circuit risk within the battery modules.

Although no accidents related to this issue have been reported in the United States, Porsche is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of its customers. One incident was reported overseas, where a vehicle travelled significantly over the speed limit at approximately 120 kmph in a 30 kmph zone. Porsche dealers are set to replace the faulty front brake hose with a new design that offers increased flexibility to reduce stress and prevent cracking. This service will be provided to Taycan owners free of charge. Notification letters will be sent to affected owners starting July 3, 2024.

Regarding the recall in India, Porsche India has not yet released a statement. Acko Drive has reached out to the officials for a response.
