The new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT develops close to 1,100 bhp.
Porsche has revealed the most powerful series-production car it has ever built. Called the Taycan Turbo GT, it develops close to 1,100 bhp! Furthermore, Porsche also set new lap time records at the Nurburgring and Laguna Seca racetracks with the Weissach package-equipped Taycan Turbo GT.
The Taycan Turbo GT produces up to 1,019 bhp with the over-boost function, the same figure the Tesla Model S Plaid produces. Porsche shattered Tesla’s record at the Nurburgring racetrack in Germany, by setting a time of 7:07.58. The Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package beat the Model S Plaid with the Track Pack by more than 17 seconds! However, Porsche’s record was set using a pre-production model, while Tesla used a production-spec model.
At the Laguna Seca racetrack in the USA, Porsche set a new record for the fastest series-production EV. The Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package did a lap in 1:27.87.
Without the over-boost function, the Taycan Turbo GT produces 778 bhp and 1,340 Nm of peak torque. With launch control, power goes up to 1,093 bhp for two seconds. The standard Taycan Turbo GT can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 2.3 seconds or 2.2 seconds with the Weissach package. Porsche claims the Taycan Turbo GT has a range of 555 km (WLTP) on a single charge.
The Taycan Turbo GT gets a slightly different bumper compared to the standard Taycan and it gets aero blades for better downforce, which are unique to the high-performance model. There’s lots of carbon fibre on the Taycan Turbo GT and most of it can be seen on the sides. It also gets 21-inch alloy wheels that are unique to the Turbo GT. To improve the downforce, it also has an adaptive rear spoiler which also has a gurney flap at the end. The Taycan Turbo GT is available in six colour options, which include two new options like the Pale Blue Metallic and Purple Sky Metallic.
Inside, the Taycan Turbo GT gets an all-black theme with full carbon fibre bucket seats offered as standard. Like the Taycan facelift, the Turbo GT also gets a triple-screen layout on the dashboard and gets the new version of Apple CarPlay.
The biggest change with the Weissach package is the omission of the rear seats and instead, it gets a carbon fibre storage space behind the front seats. With the Weissach package, Porsche has shaved off roughly 70 kg from the Taycan Turbo GT. Furthermore, the Weissach package gives it a fixed rear wing, which adds 220 kg of downforce to the Taycan Turbo GT.
