Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed a global delay, with deliveries now pushed to 2026, according to The Guardian.
Despite not being officially launched, the upcoming Range Rover Electric has already garnered 400 bookings in India, showing a growing consumer interest in high-end electric vehicles (EVs). However, according to a report in The Guardian, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has now confirmed a delay in the global launch timeline, pushing initial deliveries to 2026, a year later than originally expected.

Pre-bookings for the all-electric Range Rover quietly began earlier this year across JLR dealerships in key Indian metros like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. While no official marketing campaign was launched specifically for India, a combination of global teasers, brand prestige, and the vehicle's anticipated exclusivity has led to a strong early response, particularly among existing Range Rover owners and affluent EV enthusiasts.
However, according to The Guardian’s report, customers, globally, are now being notified that their deliveries will only begin in calendar year 2026, depending on production allocation and regional rollout.
The delay in launch is not limited to India. JLR has cited extended prototype testing, changing EV market dynamics, and macroeconomic volatility as primary reasons for the revised global timeline.
When contacted, a spokesperson for Range Rover told Acko Drive, “Range Rover Electric will be a Range Rover first and foremost. We continue to put the vehicle through one of the most thorough prototype development programmes ever undertaken by JLR. We will not compromise on design, capability or quality.”

The Range Rover Electric, developed at JLR's Solihull facility in the UK, is the brand's first ground-up EV based on the new Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA). It features a 118 kWh battery, producing 542 bhp and 850 Nm of torque, delivering performance comparable to the flagship V8 petrol variant. While no official price has been announced, we estimate a sticker price above ₹3 crore, making it one of the most expensive EVs in India upon launch.
