The iconic Bullet is feeling the heat from the young gun.
Royal Enfield recently updated the Hunter 350 wherein the bike got revised suspension, more features and new colour options. The Hunter 350 has been a runaway success for the brand as it breached the 5 lakh units sales milestone a few months back. While many Royal Enfield purists scoffed at the Hunter 350 at its launch for being too small and generic to be a thoroughbred RE motorcycle, the sales figures convey a different story. The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 has managed to outsell the iconic Bullet 350 based on April sales data, wonder what the loyalists have to say now. This isn’t the first occasion that the Bullet 350 has been outsold by the Hunter 350 as we had witnessed the same in early 2024. You can see the numbers in the table below and let’s find out how the Hunter 350 managed this upstage.
Month | RE Hunter 350 | RE Bullet 350 |
April, 2025 | 18,109 units | 16,489 units |
March, 2025 | 16,958 units | 21,987 units |
February, 2025 | 16,599 units | 19,244 units |
The primary reason for the popularity of the Hunter 350 is the pricing, as even with the update, the bike remains the most affordable RE bike on sale. The whole idea was to make a bike so easy to own that the brand can attract a younger audience as it was the biggest challenge for Royal Enfield. With its youthful persona and bright colour shades, the Hunter 350 has been hugely popular among college students, a demographic of buyers who were alien to Royal Enfield. The other aspect is the compact dimensions, with 17-inch alloy wheels and a low seat height, the Hunter 350 isn’t intimidating like other bikes from its portfolio. This makes it more appealing to a younger audience, and also many female buyers have bought the bike.
Apart from youngsters, a lot of bikers in the 150-200 cc class are also looking at the Hunter 350 as an upgrade as it doesn’t follow the same traditional roadster path as seen with its siblings. The Hunter 350 is peppy, you can cut through traffic easily and is good fun on the twisties too, something the Bullet 350 doesn’t offer. So while buyers are getting the Royal Enfield badge value, they aren’t following the legacy set by older RE bikes.
Last, but not the least is the fact that while Hunter 350 sales figures have improved, the same for the Bullet 350 has fallen down. It also stems from the fact that there’s hardly any difference between the Bullet 350 and the RE Classic 350 in terms of design and aesthetics, which wasn’t the case previously. So a buyer in this segment is gravitating more towards the ever popular Classic 350 thereby sidelining the Bullet. We feel the sales gap will widen further as with the 2025 Hunter 350, RE has worked upon its problem areas making it even more appealing.
