The Flying Flea C6 is Royal Enfield’s debut electric motorcycle.
After making quite the splash last year on the show floors of EICMA, the Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 concept bike has officially landed on our shores. While we’re still quite far away from its launch, at the moment, the Flying Flea C6 has debuted and, with that, has also officially marked the entry of Royal Enfield’s all-electric sub-brand, Flying Flea, to our country. The Chennai-based manufacturer stated that over 200 engineers across India and the UK were involved in developing this bike. This resulted in more than 40 patent applications.
The Flying Flea C6, also called the FF.C6, combines vintage styling with modern technology. It is built around a completely new cage frame made out of forged aluminium, which helps keep the weight under check. The frame is scalable, and down the line, RE will also launch a scrambler bike based on it, called the Flying Flea S6.
Besides the C6’s gorgeous and timeless design, one of its biggest highlights is the unique girder fork suspension. This makes the FF.C6 the only electric bike available with this sophisticated suspension system. Beyond its visual impact, the suspension unit is functional, too, as Royal Enfield claims that it improves the bike's handling and stability in urban environments.
While the bike’s battery and electric motor specs are still under wraps, the battery will be housed inside magnesium casings and have a belt-drive system in place. Royal Enfield has confirmed that the FF.C6 has been designed primarily for city use and targets a range of around 100 km. Having said that, RE is targeting to keep the bike's weight around 100 kg, which means it will be quite the lightweight electric bike in the market.
The Flying Flea C6 is also one of the most feature-rich bikes that RE has ever manufactured. It debuts a completely new round touchscreen display with voice control, navigation, and smartphone connectivity. This console is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor, and it also supports keyless start/stop functionality, multiple ride modes, and over-the-air (OTA) updates.
Speaking on the occasion of the Flying Flea C6’s India debut, Mario Alvisi, Chief Growth Officer of Electric Vehicles at Royal Enfield, concluded, “With the C6 and S6, we are not just introducing vehicles; we are introducing a feeling that riders have never experienced before. Developed within the innovative ‘Flying Flea Tech Center’, these machines integrate proprietary technology, cutting-edge software, and seamless connectivity. With Flying Flea, we are not just taking the City+ mobility to the next level, we are creating an entirely new category within it.”
