Royal Enfield's parent company Eicher Motors plans to invest ₹958 crore to expand production at the Cheyyar plant in Tamil Nadu, in a bid to increase total production to 20 lakh units from the current 14.6 lakh units.
Eicher Motors, the parent company of Royal Enfield, has announced its plans to invest ₹958 crore in the motorcycle maker to expand production capacity. The board approved the additional brownfield investment in capacity expansion at RE’s Cheyyar plant in Tamil Nadu, increasing the total installed capacity from the current 14.6 lakh units to 20 lakh units across plants.
Royal Enfield will be expanding the production capacity in phases, starting in Q1 FY2027, which will be completed over a period of two years by FY2028. The expansion plans have been greenlit amidst full utilisation of the bike maker’s current capacity at its manufacturing plants. The announces comes on the back of the motorcycle maker cross one million sales in just 10 months in the current financial year (FY2026).

Speaking about the capacity expansion, B. Govindarajan, Managing Director - Eicher Motors Ltd., and Chief Executive Officer - Royal Enfield said, “This investment will augment our annual production capacity and allow us to meet the expanding existing and projected future demand. By scaling our existing Cheyyar plant, we are ensuring a faster capacity ramp-up and cost-efficient operations. This project is aligned with our consistent growth focus and underscores our commitment to the evolving needs of our global community.”
Eicher Motors further revealed that it will be funding the capacity expansion through internal accruals, reinforcing the brand’s strategy to strengthen its production capabilities in line with Royal Enfield’s growth in the mid-size motorcycle segment.
