Samsung is looking to unveil two variants of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 later this year.
Samsung is considering launching a more affordable version of its flagship Galaxy Z Fold foldable smartphone to better compete in the growing foldable market.
According to a report by The Elec, Samsung is looking to unveil two variants of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 later this year - the standard top-end model and a more affordable variant. It would mark the first time Samsung has offered a more affordable option in its Galaxy Z Fold lineup.
Samsung's goal here is to increase shipment volumes by bringing foldable phone technology to a wider audience at a more accessible price point.
Rivals like OnePlus, Oppo, Tecno and Moto have been steadily gaining ground in the foldable space. Their devices like the Open, Find N3 Flip, Phantom V Flip and Razr 40 have become compelling alternatives to Samsung's Fold and Flip range of foldables.
A more affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 variant could help Samsung better compete in key markets like China and India. The report also claims that the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 will see a thinner design taking cues from rival foldables. Details on the rumoured affordable model remain unknown for now.
