The Galaxy Ring is said to be incredibly lightweight and will come in multiple sizes.
At the end of its recent Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung teased a new ring-shaped wearable device called the Galaxy Ring. While details were sparse, the teaser confirmed rumours that Samsung was indeed working on a smart ring product to join its lineup of wearables.
Now, new details about the Galaxy Ring have surfaced from tech analyst Avi Greengart, who claims to have gotten hands-on time with prototypes of the ring. According to Greengart, the Galaxy Ring is incredibly lightweight and will come in multiple sizes up to size 13. It will also be available in at least three distinct finishes or colour options at launch.
In terms of features, the Galaxy Ring appears poised to focus on health, wellness and sleep-tracking capabilities. Greengart says it will monitor metrics like heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep and workouts with the Samsung Health app.
As one of the first major companies to release a smart ring, Samsung hopes to capture some of the success seen by the Oura Ring, currently the most popular health-focused ring. However, pricing for the Galaxy Ring is still unknown, though similar devices have sold for around $200-300 USD.
Samsung may position the Galaxy Ring as a companion to its Galaxy Watch lineup, allowing for more accurate 24/7 health and activity monitoring when used together. We'll know more about the Galaxy Ring later this year when it officially launches.
