Samsung will provide M14-based OLED panels for the entire iPhone series, including both standard and premium models.
Samsung Display is set to supply advanced OLED panels for all four models of Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 lineup, according to a new report by South Korean publication.
The breakthrough marks a key moment for Samsung, as the company will provide M14-based OLED panels for the entire iPhone series, including both standard and premium models.
The report estimated the supply volume at 80-90 million units, solidifying Samsung's position as Apple's primary display provider.
Traditionally, Apple has introduced cutting-edge display technologies, but limiting advanced materials to high-end models.
However, the iPhone 17 series will mark a departure from this strategy. The M14 OLED technology will now be implemented across all models, including the 6.1-inch Standard, 6.6-inch Air, 6.3-inch Pro, and 6.9-inch Pro Max variants.
The M14 material set represents a significant technological advancement in display manufacturing. Unlike traditional displays, OLED technology generates light through organic materials, with the material composition directly influencing colour reproduction, brightness, and panel longevity. Experts note that the M14 is currently the most sophisticated OLED material set commercially available.
Reports from The Elec suggest that Samsung Display is developing OLED panel samples for MacBook Pro models. The company's 8th-generation OLED factory, specifically the A6 facility dedicated to MacBook Pro displays, is projected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
The collaboration between Apple and Samsung appears to be expanding beyond smartphones.
