Brin has been visiting Google's offices in Mountain View.
Sergey Brin, Google's co-founder, has returned to the tech giant's offices to actively engage in developing the company's next large artificial intelligence (AI) system, specifically the ambitious AI model "Gemini", as per a WSJ report.
The multi-billionaire co-founder of Google is leading the effort and collaborating with researchers to develop the AI model. Brin has been visiting Google's offices in Mountain View, working alongside researchers as they push to build the next AI system.
According to people familiar with the matter, Brin has actively participated in meetings and collaborated closely with researchers. He is closely working with a group of researchers dedicated to building Google's AI model, Gemini. Additionally, Brin has played a role in hiring the best researchers for this project.
The increased involvement of Sergey Brin in AI research has been noticeable in recent months, reflecting a change from his relatively hands-off approach after stepping down from an executive role at Alphabet in 2019.
Google, which pioneered AI research, has faced competition from other companies like OpenAI, and Brin's involvement is aimed at pushing Google's AI initiatives further in a rapidly evolving AI landscape.
