Deliveries for the electric scooter will begin from June 6
Simple energy has launched its first electric scooter in India, the Simple One, and has priced it at Rs. 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru). The company has provided the consumers the options of buying a 750W charger as well which will cost Rs. 13,000 more. The company today revealed its plans for a phase-wise launch and deliveries of the electric scooter. The first city where deliveries will begin is Bengaluru and the electric scooter will be rolled out to customers from June 6.
The company will focus on ramping up its retail operations in the next 12 months by being present in 40-50 cities, through a network of 160-180 retail stores in these cities. The Simple One will be available in 6 colours and the company has managed 95 per cent localisation with only the cells being imported. It is the first e-scooter to come with a thermal management system, developed collaboratively with IIT-Indore, helping mitigate any thermal runaways.
The Simple One comes with a 5kWh battery pack which punches out 11.3 bhp and has a peak torque of 72 Nm. According to the company, the all-electric range of the scooter is 212 km on a single charge. It can sprint from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.77 seconds.
Suhas Rajkumar, Founder & CEO, Simple Energy, said, “We are excited to commence our journey in the competitive Indian auto landscape and we will continuously focus on evolving ourselves through insights and learning that we gather from the industry.”
Early this year Simple Energy inaugurated its new manufacturing plant, Simple Vision 1.0, in Shoolagiri, Tamil Nadu, which has an installed annual capacity of approximately 5 lakh units. With more products in the pipeline and its core focus on R&D, we will see more products coming from the EV maker soon.
