Skoda Auto India has made strides in the competitive subcompact SUV segment, revealing plans for a new model set to rival popular contenders like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue and now the Mahindra XUV 3XO. The company took an innovative approach by engaging the public in the naming process, with enthusiasts eagerly participating in a contest to finalise the SUV's moniker. After much anticipation, Skoda has announced a shortlist of ten potential names for the upcoming SUV: Kayaq, Kliq, Karmiq, Kaiq, Kosmiq, Kyroq, Kariq, Kwiq, Kymaq, and Kylaq. The final decision is imminent, with the announcement expected before the scheduled launch in the first quarter of calendar year 2025.
And here we are… the final 10 names for Škoda's upcoming compact SUV. The response has been truly overwhelming with 200,000+ entries. Some names were smart and innovative while others were quirky and fun.

Recent sightings of the SUV undergoing testing indicate that it will draw inspiration from its MQB-A0-IN-based predecessor, the Kushaq. Notable design elements include a sleeker grille adorned with vertical slats, LED daytime running lights flanking the grille, split LED headlamps, and a broader radiator grille. At the rear, expect inverted L-shaped LED taillamps, a shark fin antenna, roof rails, and an extended spoiler featuring a stop lamp.

Under the hood, Skoda's forthcoming subcompact SUV will be equipped with a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. This powertrain, also employed in models like the Skoda Slavia and Skoda Kushaq, delivers a robust performance, generating 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque.
