Skoda Auto India has once again teased its upcoming subcompact SUV. While earlier the Czech manufacturer shared the front of the SUV, it has now shared a glimpse of the rear. Skoda India is yet to announce the name of its new subcompact SUV, though it has finalised 10 names.

As per the new teaser, the sub-4 metre SUV’s tail lamp will share its design with the Skoda Kushaq compact SUV. It will have an inverted L-shaped tail lamp cluster as well as big Skoda lettering on the tailgate and roof rails. The previous teaser, which showed the front, hinted that the new Skoda subcompact SUV will have thin LED DRLs and a split headlamp setup.

Skoda India also mentioned that the new SUV will have elements of its Modern Solid design language and will be the first model in India to do so. It also mentioned that the subcompact SUV will have muscular design elements around the fenders as well as a hexagon pattern on the side and rear. Furthermore, it will also get a high ground clearance.

Previous spy shots have confirmed that the new SUV will have the brand’s signature grille, a thick front bumper, number plate housing on the tailgate, a spoiler-mounted third stop light and a shark fin antenna. Inside, it is expected to get a digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen as well as Skoda’s signature two-spoke steering wheel.

Based on the MQB-A0-IN, the subcompact SUV will share a fair few bits with its bigger sibling, the Skoda Kushaq. It will measure under 4 metres and will likely be powered by the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. While details are scant, the engine is expected to produce 114 bhp and 172 Nm and come with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options.

Expect the final name to be announced closer to the festive season. The new subcompact SUV is likely to make its global debut in India in early 2025, with a price announcement slated for March 2025. Once launched, Skoda’s smallest model in India will rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
