Sony & BlinkIt Partner for PlayStation 5 Slim Delivery Within 10 Mins

BlinkIt, the fast commerce platform owned by Zomato, has collaborated with Sony in India to deliver the new PlayStation 5 Slim to customers within 10 minutes of ordering through the app. The console, which goes on sale today (April 5), is the first significant revision of the PlayStation 5, Sony's fastest-selling PlayStation video game console and the best-selling console of 2023.

Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, announced the news on X, stating, "PlayStation 5 on Blinkit. Launching tomorrow."

The PS5 Slim is priced at Rs 44,990 for the digital edition without a disc drive and Rs 54,990 for the version with a Blu-ray drive. The revised console features a slimmer design, updated ports with USB Type-C, and a new stand that differs from the original PS5.

This partnership is part of BlinkIt's aggressive expansion into the consumer electronics space. Earlier this year, the company collaborated with Samsung to deliver the Galaxy S24 smartphone in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.

In 2023, BlinkIt made headlines by partnering with Apple reseller Unicorn to sell the first fully made-in-India iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi NCR.

Despite experiencing significant losses, BlinkIt has seen its revenue surge from Rs 236.1 crore to Rs 724 crore. The company's overall losses are decreasing in relation to its massive growth.

Zomato acquired BlinkIt in an all-stock deal for $568 million. Zomato itself has been actively growing and has now also ventured into the ticketing platform for concerts and events, competing with BookMyShow and PayTM-owned Insider.in.
