This massive growth of the company mainly stems from the updates that it made to its Baddi manufacturing facility.
Indian helmet manufacturer, Steelbird Hi-Tech has recorded sales of 8.7 million helmets in FY25. This is quite the encouraging 10.7 per cent growth from the 8 million units it retailed last year. All in all, it helped Steelbird post a revenue growth of ₹787 crore, and now it aims to cross the 10 million helmet sales milestone in FY26.
Steelbird's production growth stems from upgrades at its Baddi manufacturing units, including new robotic visor systems, automated paint shops, and expanded assembly lines, pushing daily production toward 50,000 helmets per day. The company has also begun work on a new facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
Last year also saw Steelbird expand its product offerings with new helmet models featuring Bluetooth integration, ventilation technology, and lightweight composites. Last year, on the eve of the inauguration of the Ram Mandir, Steelbird also launched a limited Jai Shri Ram Edition.
Steelbird's production boom is a good sign which suggests that more people are adopting helmets, and that helps make our roads safer. However, none of its helmets meet the ECE international helmet safety standards, and are thereby not the safest option in the market now. It does get ISI certification, which is amongst the least stringent standards. With so many of its helmets in circulation, it’s high time that Steelbird sends its helmets for stringent tests like SNELL and JIS, and if possible for ECE 22.06 standard testings as well – so that it gives riders better and safer options, and to make our roads safer.
