1056 units of the iconic bike have been identified to have the issue

The Suzuki Hayabusa needs no introduction. The legendary speed conquering missile on two-wheels, or as Indians call it the Dhoom machine, has stolen hearts and captivated minds across generations. And the third generation has made it a bit angrier than before. It seems this anger issue has a side effect on its braking hardware as the Japanese bike maker has had to issue a voluntary recall for a potential front brake issue.

The recall statement mentions, “The front brake lever play increases, in the worst case, the lever contacts with the throttle grip and the braking distance increases.” Not a pleasant statement that you want to read about a motorcycle that can do 200 kmph in the blink of an eye and can go for another 100 kmph more. Anyways, Suzuki has identified 1,056 units of the third-gen Hayabusa to be affected and if you are one of the unfortunate few, the revisions should be done ASAP.

The brakes were one biggest of the sore points of the old Hayabusa. Suzuki had fixed it to a great extent on the third-gen with the then top-of-the-line Brembo Stylema calipers and larger discs. And yet while the brakes were certainly better than before, we still felt the Busa could do with more fierce braking like the Stylemas offered on other performance bikes like the Ducati Panigale V4 and Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory.

Anyways, hopefully, braking performance now matches the engine performance of the bike. And then one should be better off managing the Peregrine Falcon.
