Suzuki is gearing up for the imminent launch of the V-Strom 800DE adventure motorcycle in India. This news has been sparked due to a recent teaser upload on the official Suzuki 2 Wheelers Instagram handle. Suzuki also had showcased the bike at the Bharat Mobility Expo in February, gauging customer response and hinting at a price range of ₹ 10-11 lakh (ex-showroom).
The V-Strom 800DE comes loaded with features designed to enhance both on-road comfort and off-road capability. Riders can expect a crisp and information-rich five-inch TFT display for easy access to vital statistics. Rider aids like switchable traction control and multiple riding modes, including a dedicated ‘Gravel’ mode, provide increased control and confidence on various terrains. For a seamless shifting experience, a bi-directional quickshifter is included.
The heart of the V-Strom 800DE is a 776cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine with a unique 270-degree crank. This configuration promises a thrilling ride with a characteristic V-twin rumble. This engine makes 84.3 bhp and 78 Nm. The engine is equipped with their Low RPM Assist feature, a boon for preventing stalls in stop-and-go traffic.
A new steel chassis design forms the foundation of the V-Strom 800DE, providing a robust and confidence-inspiring platform for exploring the unknown. This strong frame is specifically engineered to handle the demands of adventure riding, offering a balance of stability and agility.
The suspension system comprises an adjustable USD fork and a monoshock with a remote preload adjuster, providing a comfortable ride even on rough terrains with a 220mm of ground clearance.
The wheels, a 21-inch front and a 17-inch rear, are wrapped in Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour tyres. These tyres are designed to offer a good balance of on-road grip and off-road capability. However, it's important to note that the spoke wheels on the 800 aren’t allowing the fitment of tubeless tyres, like the old V-Strom 650XT used to. Hence, fixing punctures will be a task.
The V-Strom 800DE is set to rival established players like the BMW F 850 GS and the Triumph Tiger 900 in India's adventure motorcycle segment. With an expected price range of ₹10-11 lakh (ex-showroom), Suzuki aims to offer a compelling value proposition for riders seeking feature-rich bikes without breaking the bank.
The official launch date for the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is expected to be announced in the coming days. With its combination of power, features, and competitive pricing, the V-Strom 800DE is shaping up to be a highly anticipated addition to the Indian adventure motorcycle market.
