Tata Motors has launched the Altroz CNG AMT, claiming it to be India's first premium hatchback offering a CNG automatic powertrain.
Tata Motors has officially launched the new Altroz CNG AMT in India. Starting at an ex-showroom price of ₹8.70 lakh, this new addition makes the Altroz the first premium hatchback in the Indian market to offer the convenience of an automated manual transmission (AMT) paired with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
The Altroz CNG AMT is powered by the familiar 1.2-litre Revotron engine. When running in CNG mode, the powerplant delivers a maximum output of 73 bhp and 103 Nm of torque. In petrol mode, the performance figures rise to 87 bhp and 115 Nm.
The five speed AMT unit is identical to the one found in the standard petrol variants, aiming to provide a smooth driving experience for urban commuters looking for fuel efficiency without the fatigue of manual gear shifts.
A standout feature of this model is the twin cylinder technology. By splitting the CNG storage into two smaller tanks located under the luggage area, Tata has managed to offer a usable boot capacity of 210 litres. While this is lower than the 345 litres found in the internal combustion engine versions, it remains significantly more practical than traditional single tank CNG setups.

Tata Motors is offering the AMT option across five distinct variants: Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative S, and the high-spec Accomplished S. The top tier variants are well equipped with modern features such as a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a sunroof, wireless charging, and 16 inch alloy wheels.
This launch further strengthens Tata's position in the competitive hatchback segment against rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
