The Tata Curvv.ev, once launched, will rival the likes of the MG ZS EV and even the BYD Atto 3.
Tata Motors is all set to launch its newest EV in the market, the much-anticipated Curvv.ev tomorrow along with its ICE counterpart, slated for a launch later in the month. The highlight though will be the Tata Curvv.ev and we also got to see it last month in its production-ready avatar in the UK at Tata Motors design studio in Coventry. You can watch the video here.
The Tata Curvv.ev, once launched, will rival the likes of the MG ZS EV and even the BYD Atto 3. However, this segment will expand in the coming months with the launch of the Hyundai Creta EV and even the first-ever EV from India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, in the form of the eVX which will come next year. Based on this, we expect Tata to price the Curvv.ev at around ₹19.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base version, going up to ₹24.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the top-of-the-line variant.
For reference, the BYD Atto 3, which now starts at ₹24.99 lakh for its new base version, goes up to ₹33.99 lakh for the top-spec Superior variant. The mid-spec Premium variant retails at ₹29.85 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, India). This makes the BYD Atto 3 a premium model over the Tata Curvv.ev, however, we expect Tata to take an aggressive approach in pricing its flagship electric SUV.
Variant | Prices (ex-showroom, India) |
---|---|
Atto 3 Dynamic | ₹24.99 lakh |
Atto 3 Premium | ₹29.85 lakh |
Atto 3 Superior | ₹33.99 lakh |
Then there is the MG ZS EV, the flagship EV from JSW MG Motor India. The MG ZS EV is available in four trims- Executive, Excite Pro, Exclusive Plus, and Essence. Additionally, the ZS EV is also offered in a special 100-year edition, which brings several cosmetic tweaks and a new exterior paint scheme.
Variant | Prices (ex-showroom, India) |
---|---|
ZS EV Executive | ₹18.98 lakh |
ZS EV Excite Pro | ₹19.98 lakh |
ZS EV Exclusive Plus | ₹24.22 lakh |
ZS EV 100-Year Edition | ₹24.42 lakh |
ZS EV Essence | ₹25.22 lakh |
Although unconfirmed, the Tata Curvv.ev is expected to feature two battery packs with a claimed range of about 500 km (IDC) on a single charge. It is based on the new Acti.ev platform, which will also enable the V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) functionalities on the Curvv.ev.
