The latest charging hub by Tata.ev and ChargeZone is among India’s most powerful public EV charging installations, capable of charging up to 10 EVs simultaneously.

Tata.ev and ChargeZone have inaugurated a new co-branded Mega Charging Hub at Khalapur on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, marking another major expansion of India’s highway EV charging infrastructure. Located at the Khalapur Food Mall, the new facility is designed to support faster and more reliable intercity electric vehicle travel, with a total installed capacity of 720 kW.

High-capacity Infrastructure

The Khalapur charging hub is among India’s most powerful public EV charging installations, capable of charging up to 10 electric vehicles simultaneously. The site includes five charging dispensers with 10 charging points and supports ultra-fast charging speeds of up to 360 kW in Boost Mode.

As EV ownership grows across India, highway charging infrastructure is increasingly becoming a crucial factor in making long-distance electric travel more practical. The Mumbai–Pune Expressway, one of the country’s busiest intercity routes, offers a strategic location for such infrastructure deployment. ChargeZone and TATA.ev say the new hub is intended to reduce charging wait times while improving travel convenience for EV owners.

Broader Nationwide Charging Network Strategy

The Khalapur site represents the 75th charging hub under the ChargeZone and Tata.ev co-branded initiative. The broader partnership plans to establish more than 100 Mega Charging Hubs across key national highways in India.

Tata.ev launched its Mega Charging Hub programme in 2025 as part of a wider strategy to strengthen India’s public charging ecosystem. Through partnerships like this, the company is working to address infrastructure limitations that have often been viewed as barriers to EV adoption, particularly for intercity mobility.

Enhanced Customer Experience

Beyond charging capacity, the Khalapur facility has been positioned as a travel-friendly stopover. Situated within a major highway food plaza, the location offers parking, dining, retail and restroom facilities, allowing users to combine charging breaks with other travel needs. Tata.ev customers can also access discounts of up to 25 percent at this charging station, adding further value for existing EV users. This approach reflects a growing trend where charging hubs are evolving beyond pure utility into integrated travel infrastructure.

ChargeZone, which currently operates over 15,000 charging points across India and the UAE, continues to expand aggressively as EV demand rises. The company says its long-term goal is to build one million charging points. For both ChargeZone and Tata.ev, the Khalapur Mega Charging Hub signals a larger push toward creating dependable, scalable and accessible charging solutions that can support India’s transition to electric mobility at scale.
