The automaker is ramping up production and expects deliveries to gather pace from the second quarter.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPV) on Wednesday reported a 67 per cent year-on-year increase in domestic passenger vehicle sales to 62,076 units in June, supported by strong demand for its recently launched models and continued growth in its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio.

The company had recorded domestic passenger vehicle sales of 37,083 units in June last year.

Total passenger vehicle sales, including exports, rose 69 per cent year-on-year to 63,083 units during the month, compared with 37,237 units in the same period last year.

Electric vehicle sales across domestic and international markets surged 183 per cent year-on-year to a record 14,800 units in June, marking the company's highest-ever monthly EV sales.

For the April-June quarter, domestic passenger vehicle sales increased 45 per cent to 180,166 units, while total passenger vehicle sales, including exports, rose 46 per cent year-on-year to 182,574 units. EV sales during the quarter more than doubled to 34,467 units, registering growth of 112 per cent over the year-ago period.

The company is ramping up production and expects deliveries to gather pace from the second quarter.

"Q1 FY27 has marked a strong start for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, delivering industry-beating growth with sales of 182,574 cars and SUVs, up 46 per cent year-on-year. This performance was fuelled by robust customer demand and the success of our recent launches," Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said in a statement.

"We concluded the quarter on a high note, recording June sales of 63,083 cars and SUVs, registering a robust 69 per cent growth year-on-year. In EVs, we achieved our highest-ever monthly sales of 14,800 units, with volumes nearly tripling year-on-year," he added.

Chandra said the refreshed Tiago and Punch continued to receive a strong response across powertrain options, while customer demand for the Sierra remained robust despite supply constraints that affected volumes during the quarter.
