The Tata Punch facelift, launched earlier this year, revitalised one of the company's most popular models.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has reported combined domestic and international sales of 59,701 units in April 2026, a 31.1 percent YoY increase compared to April 2025. This includes electric vehicles sold by its subsidiary, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited.
A round 59,000 units figure for domestic sales gave Tata Motors a 30.5 percent bump in domestic sales compared to 45,199 units. The company reported a massive 110.5 percent increase in exports, though the actual figures of 701 in April 2026 compared to 333 a year ago are quite modest.
The company reported a combined total of 9,150 units for combined domestic and export sales of its electric vehicles, up 72.1 percent over the 5,318 units it sold in April last year.
This follows a strong 29 percent year-on-year showing with 66,971 units sold in March 2026 compared to 51,872 units in March 2025. The company also reported its highest-ever annual sales in FY 2025-26, totalling 6,41,587 units, a 15 percent improvement over the 5,56,263 units sold in FY 2025-25.
Tata Motors has not specified a breakdown in terms of individual models, however its portfolio of SUVs is well positioned to take advantage of current buying trends in India. The Tata Nexon was India’s third-best-selling model in calendar year 2025 with 2.01 lakh units sold, while the Tata Punch came in 10th at 1.73 lakh units.
The company launched its Punch facelift in January this year, followed by the Punch EV facelift in February, which also introduced a Battery-as-a-Service option to enable a lower upfront starting price. The Tata Sierra has also proven to be popular, with over 70,000 bookings on day one and 1 lakh units booked in under two months, prompting the company to raise its production targets. The Sierra EV is expected to launch shortly, which could give the company a further near-term boost.
