Tecno, the leading mobile phone brand in Africa, has officially unveiled Pova, its new sub-brand. The Pova 5 Pro 5G smartphone, an Amazon exclusive, is the first product to be launched under this brand. Targeting digital natives, the new brand will introduce an ARC interface, featuring a transparent back and LED lights, reminiscent of the Nothing Phone (2) and the Infinix GT 10.
A standout feature of the Pova 5 Pro is its RGB LED lights, which illuminate in nine colours, each corresponding to different notifications. The smartphone is powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 6080 chipset, a 6nm chip manufactured using the TSMC process. This chip serves as a significant upgrade from the ageing Helio G99, offering enhanced GPU performance and low latency 5G connectivity.
The Pova 5 Pro boasts 8GB of RAM, supplemented by an additional 8GB of virtual RAM, and 256GB of storage. It also features a 2,820mm vapour chamber and a 12,979mm heat dissipation aeration system, which keeps the phone 2 degrees cooler during intensive gaming sessions.
The smartphone sports a 6.78-inch display with a full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Games such as Mobile Legend: Bang Bang can reach over 120 FPS, maintaining a stable frame rate of over 80 FPS. Similarly, Free Fire can run at over 90 FPS.
The Pova 5 Pro is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, supported by 68W ultra charging. It can reach full charge in just 45 minutes. The phone also features a bypass charge mode, which prevents the battery from charging while the phone is plugged into the wall charger, reducing heat and battery wear and tear. A port monitoring feature is also included.
The Pro model comes with a 50-megapixel camera, which includes a dual view mode for video, ideal for vlogging. Additionally, the phone has stereo speakers that are Hi-Res audio and DTS certified.
