The acquisition is valued at $405 million, the largest in Brembo’s history.
Popular two-wheeler brake manufacturer Brembo has acquired another popular original component manufacturer of premium suspensions, Öhlins Racing. The acquisition occurred after Brembo signed an agreement with Tenneco, a portfolio company of funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management Inc. The acquisition is valued at $450 million, making it the largest in Brembo’s history.
The purchase will be made on a cash-free, debt-free basis and will be subject to regulatory approvals. The deal is expected to close by early-2025. The latest acquisition comes after the Netherlands-based company acquired SBS Friction in Denmark and J.Juan in Spain – both of which are rival brake manufacturers.
With Öhlins, Brembo aims to expand its offerings in the automotive market and work on integrated intelligent solutions by leveraging synergies across key vehicle technologies. As for Öhlins Racing, the acquisition will unlock new growth opportunities and deliver greater value to its customers and employees. Currently, Öhlins Racing is working on developing its next generation of mechatronic suspension technology, which is expected to complement Brembo’s future solution provider for future mobility.
