Retro motorcycles were never meant to break speed barriers or enthral you with performance. However, UK-based Triumph specialist Martin Motorcycle Co (MMC) has decided to challenge this notion by building a one-off model Triumph Speed Twin fitted with a supercharger. Yes. you read that right.
Unveiled at the Bike Shed London Show, this Triumph Speed Twin retrofitted with the supercharger from TTS Performance, produces 160 bhp and 157 Nm from the 1,200 cc parallel-twin motor – which is quite the bump from the stock 98.6 bhp/ 112 Nm output. What’s more interesting, is that the Bristol-based company took just four days to build the bike before the showcase.
And despite being built in such a short period, the folks at MMC have not compromised with the ethereal beauty of the roadster. Starting with that exotic-looking paint job on the tank and the side body panels, that MMC is calling “Ghost Fade”. Special attention has been given to minuted details like the MMC badging on the engine casing, and powder coating on the engine parts, supercharger and the swing arm.
Significant upgrades have also been made to the chassis wherein the the rear subframe has been shortened and the rear footpegs are cut off. Giving the bike a nice short sporty roadster look. Additionally, the suspension equipment have also been upgraded with Ohlins USD front forks and YSS rear shocks, giving the Triumph some much-needed stability with the newfound thrust.
While MMC has created just one example of the Triumph ‘Super’ Speed Twin. However, Alex Martin, managing director of MMC has stated that they are open to building more examples, provided they receive a good demand. As for this one-off Triumph ‘Super’ Speed Twin, it’s not for sale and was only exhibited at the motorcycle show in London.
