While two wheeler production (including mopeds) did increase by 1.6 per cent last month, domestic sales reduced by 9 per cent.
The two-wheeler industry continues to pump out healthy volumes into the Indian market, however, demand has fallen short off-late, it seems. Last month, in February, a total of 18,58,462 two-wheelers were produced which might have been a smidge 1.6 per cent more than the 18,29,534 units that were manufactured in February 2024. But in the domestic market, sales dropped by 9 per cent, for only 13,84,605 units were sold, compared to the 15,20,761 units the industry retailed in the same month, last year. Here are the top five manufacturers who conquer the large chunk of this sales pie, as per the latest SIAM report:
Honda sold the most bikes and scooters last month in India at 3,83,918 units, which might be 7.26 per cent less than the 4,13,967 units it retailed last year in the same month. This is expected to further grow, for the brand will now have its new fleet of electric scooter duos, the Activa e: and QC1. We’ll be riding it shortly, so stay tuned to this space for all the ride details.
