These new Rocket 3 models are not just more powerful than the standard iteration, but have a more enhanced premium appeal.
The Triumph Rocket 3 has undergone a significant update for 2024. Aside from the fact that the muscle roadster is now available in two trims with new names – Storm R and GT – Triumph has also introduced new dark-scheme aesthetics with the bikes which mimic the special edition Rockets that the brand launched earlier.
The 2458 cc inline-3 engine has always been the biggest highlight of the Rocket 3 range of motorcycles. Making this powertrain all the more exclusive and explosive is the bump in performance. Power output has gone up from an already impressive 165 bhp to a mouth-watering 180 bhp. But it is the torque that talks when anyone speaks about the Rocket 3 and in that regards, the earth-shattering 225 Newton metres are 4 more than the previous iteration. What makes it even more delectable is that all of it is available from as low as 4000 rpm.
Both the Triumph Rocket 3 Storm R and GT motorcycles have gained three new two-tone colour options - Carnival Red with Sapphire Black, Satin Pacific Blue with Matt Sapphire Black, and Sapphire Black with Granite. However, the styling and finish are different with the Storm R getting a high-quality black finish, while the GT trim separates itself with the split design on the tank reversed.
Additionally, the 16-inch rear and 17-inch front wheels get a new sportier ten-spoke cast aluminum design, which Triumph claims has helped reduce the unsprung mass, which in turn has made the bikes more agile. But a 300+ kilo giant will remain a beast to handle.
Both the Triumph Rocket 3 Storm R and GT have their set of dedicated seating setups with the former seating lower at 773 mm, and in the GT it is higher at 750 mm, with the pillion seat getting additional padding for cushioning and a backrest.
But one of the biggest differences notable between the two models is in their respective footpeg position. The Storm R gets a mid-foot setup with two setting controls for up to 15 mm of vertical adjustment. The footpegs on the GT variant are positioned forward to give a laid-back feel, and it comes with three horizontal settings with up to 50 mm of adjustment.
Aside from the above changes, the rest of the bike continues unchanged with the same suspension and brake equipment. Features like cruise control, full-colour TFT, cornering ABS, etc have also remained the same with the new Rocket 3 models.
Both the new Triumph Rocket 3 Storm R and GT will be available in UK showrooms from April onwards. The same is also expected to make its way to our country by the end of this year.
Currently, the standard Rocket 3 model is priced at ₹20.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Given the number of updates that Triumph has introduced, we expect the bikes to launch in India with a bump in this sticker price by around ₹2 lakh as well.
