This teaser comes barely a few weeks after TVS launched the ‘Blaze of Black’ Editions.
Barely a few weeks after launching the new ‘Blaze of Black’ editions, TVS is all set to add another new edition to its Apache RTR series. The brand recently released a teaser for the same and going by initial impressions this next will be called ‘Racing Edition’. While racing has been part of TVS’ DNA for the longest time, this new edition will officially pay homage to that legacy of the Chennai-based manufacturer.
While we are yet to affirm the Apache RTR models that this new edition will be attributed to. The teaser does give us a glimpse of the bike’s wolf-eyed DRL and the tank section, which seems in all probability will either be the Apache RTR 180 or the Apache RTR 160 2V. While the latter has already gained the ‘Blaze of Black’ edition, this new addition is expected to further enhance its appeal, especially in comparison to the recently updated Bajaj Pulsar NS160.
Going by TVS' history with regards to edition models, the upcoming ‘Racing Edition’ will be more of an aesthetic makeover. The tank section that was teased in the short reel, had a dual-tone colour combination wherein black body panels had red accents, and the letters ‘Racing Edition’ were etched near the seat. In a typical TVS style, faux carbon fibre stylings can also be found around the tail section, and underneath the engine.
Don’t expect any mechanical upgrade or boost in performance of any kind. There might be a few new accessories, but beyond that ‘Racing Edition’ Apache RTR models will be identical to the existing models, at least mechanically. For that matter, the TVS Apache RTR 180 is powered by a 177.4 cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that produces 16.78 bhp and 15.5 Nm. The Apache RTR 160 is powered by a 159.7 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 15.82 bhp and 13.85 Nm. Both are available with three ride modes – Sport, Urban, and Rain – and the above figures are in Sport mode.
The TVS Apache RTR 160 2V is available in four variants, and the ‘Racing Edition’ is expected to be available with the top-spec Disc brake with Bluetooth connectivity feature variant which retails at ₹1.27 lakh (ex-showroom).
On the other hand, the TVS Apache RTR 180 is available in just one variant – disc brake with Bluetooth – which retails at ₹1.33 lakh (ex-showroom). With the ‘Racing Edition’ treatment, expect a slight bump in their respective ex-showroom prices as well.
