TVS continues to lead the EV game in the country. After topping the monthly sales charts last month, it is also doing pretty well in exports. In FY25, the Hosur-based manufacturer exported 4,427 BMW CE 02 and 1,486 TVS iQubes. This translates to a massive 401 per cent increase in exports for the BMW CE 02, as against the 884 units exported in FY 24.
The CE 02 platform was jointly developed by TVS and BMW Motorrad, and the Bavarian funky runabout is built here at TVS’ Hosur facility. The same platform also spawns the TVS X; however, the latter is sold in just one city in India: Bengaluru. If TVS expands the market for the X, too, it might see the radically styled electric scooter fetch more buyers.
It shouldn't cost TVS that much to scale up the production of the X, either. Both the BMW CE 02 and the TVS X are powered by the same 4.4 kWh battery paired to an 11 kW electric motor. This motor is good for a top speed of 95 kmph on both scooters. But when it comes to their range, TVS claims that the X can travel 140 km on a single charge, whereas the CE 02’s real range is around 100 km.
With its EV export business, TVS has surpassed the likes of Ather Energy, Bajaj Auto and even Hero MotoCorp by leaps and bounds. As per the SIAM report, electric two-wheeler exports of TVS, Ather, Honda, Hero and Bajaj Auto combined were 6,845 units, out of which 86.38 per cent exports were of TVS’s alone. This is another positive growth registered by OEMs in a segment that in general created record by raking in sales of 6.85 million units. Head to this link here for all the details.
