In a fitting tribute to our country’s brave soldiers and on the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, TVS has showcased a very special, one-off Ronin that the brand is calling Parakram. Named after the Hindi word that stands for courage – the customisation job has given the bike a distinct rugged appeal.
Gone is the laid-back street presence of the standard Ronin. In its place stands a muscular war machine, draped in army green and adorned with patriotic flair. A metallic windscreen crowns the familiar round headlamp, while the Indian tricolour proudly streaks across the tank and front end. Bullet-shaped turn signals complete the military-inspired overhaul.
But the Parakram isn't all show and no go. Underneath all those visual upgrades, TVS has retained the same mechanical and hardware as the stock bike. So, it continues to be powered by the same 20.12 bhp/ 19.93 Nm strong 225.9 cc, single-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The Parakram continues to be underpinned by 41 mm USD fork and a monoshock for the rear. Similarly, the disc brake setup has also remained the same, however, the 17-inch wheels in the Parakram are shod with knobby tyres, that look ready to take on the challenging terrains of Ladakh.
Though not slated for mass production, the Ronin Parakram serves as a rolling showcase of TVS's customisation prowess and a moving memorial to India's defenders. As the Parakram stands ready for duty, one can't help but wonder: what other surprises do TVS have lurking in its custom workshop?
